Akane-Banashi by Yuki Suenaga and Takamasa Moue
really satisfying character drama about the traditional performing art of rakugo. like a sports manga but for the arts, and where the main character gets to be a woman. i also really like that the story takes place over years, letting akane literally grow up as she hones her skills and becomes a professional rakugoka. 9/10, i love keeping up with it every week.
my favs
My taste in manga tends to be either weird, intense and/or cerebral (Fire Punch, Chainsaw Man, Dorohedoro, Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu, Girls Last Tour ) or shoujo/josei classics (Rose of Versailles, Nana, Oniisama E...). I like my fair share of newer popular series too, whether very good (Dungeon Meshi, Witch Hat Atelier) or the best kind of mid (JoJo, Tokyo Ghoul), but if I had to narrow it down my favourite mangakas are Ikeda Riyoko, Yamagishi Ryouko, Mori Kaoru, and Tatsuki Fujimoto.

If you couldn't tell, I'm unfortunately very Fujimoto-pilled. I have many criticisms for his... everything, but Chainsaw Man, Fire Punch, Goodbye Eri and Look Back have legitimately changed my life and my taste in art as much as NGE has. In terms of weird intensity, his work is just unmatched for me. (Except for whatever's going on with CSM right now. I've been pretty disappointed since chapter, like, 130).

Making a shitty filmbro one of the best characters ever...

I also read a lot of yuri. Like, a whole lot. I kind of mostly read yuri romances. Which is why it has its own page.

Finally, here's some recommendations of manga I find pretty underrated:
Usotsuki Satsuki wa Shi ga Mieru by Ryouko: a reverse-murder mystery serial, a debate about ethics, and a high school drama rolled into one.
Stigmata by Takahashi Hidebu: some good BL with a highly unique premise and really clean, retro-style art.
Tsubame Tip off! by Watanuki Hiroya: finally, sports manga for girls. everything you could want in a high school basketball drama.
Qualia the Purple by Ueo Hisamitsu & Tsunashima Shirou: potentially the most dialogue-dense graphic work ever, this one's literally about the reality-bending implications of quantum mechanics taken to the extreme.
