Metal Gear, huh?

What can I say, Kojima is a hack writer but he's my favourite hack. I'm pretentious enough to get genuinely annoyed by things like when they were super wrong in MGS2 about the informative value that cultural ephemera holds for historians and sociologists, and I'm also stupid and gay enough that Venom Snake in MGSV made me cut all my hair off in the bathroom sink and realize I'm non-binary. So you could call me something of the target audience. These video games are incredible and also are not very good. They contain great critiques, iconic characters, cringe military fetishism and pervasive misogyny. This video gets it pretty well: it's great, except when it isn't, but I still love 'em.
